Known for gaining an international reputation in providing ISO certified, market leading bovine plasma proteins, such as Bovine Serum Albumin (BAS), and operating Quality Systems audited to GMP principles, MP Biomedicals produce high purity, intact proteins that are in high demand in the bio-pharmaceutical and diagnostic industry.

Hygiene standards in such production facilities are of the utmost importance and with the floor being at a greater risk of dirt and germs accumulation due to employee shoes and gravity allowing dust to settle on the ground, improving the sanitary conditions of the floor was a key consideration.

Impressed with its HACCP International certification and after a recommendation from a trusted source, MP Biomedicals chose Flowcrete’s Flowfresh SR at a 4mm thickness and in a bright Warm Buff shade for a 600 m²  area of the facility. Flowfresh SR is a heavy-duty polyurethane resin floor system that contains Polygiene®, an antibacterial additive that can kill up to 99.9% of germs on the floor’s surface. Stainless steel drainage was incorporated into the floor coating to ensure that any contaminants could be easily washed away.

In addition to the hygiene benefits of Flowfresh, the client also specified a gloss finish for a functional and attractive floor surface. Additional benefits of this system include its high chemical resistance, which is ideal for coping with any dropped substances that would normally corrode the floor. Additionally, Flowfresh SR has a heat resistance of up to 90°C and the ability to withstand high mechanical stress without floor failure.

The client was extremely happy with the smooth, easy to clean and non-slip flooring solution, especially as installation took just eight days to complete before full use of the facility could resume.
